New Zealand beat South Africa 19-17 on late penalties to win the Rugby championship. The game began with great energy as New Zealand’s Will Jordan and South Africa’s Sbu Nkosi both scored on tries. Both teams traded the lead for the most part of the game with New Zealand’s Barrett and South Africa’s Pollard both clinched four penalties.

South Africa’s intense pressure made life tough for New Zealand but with two minutes to play, Barrett nailed penalties to lead New Zealand’s effort.

We were forced into a lot of errors because of the pressure [but] we showed a determination to keep fighting and got there in the end. It's really significant for us. The 100th, the history between us, they are a team we respect greatly. Hats off to Jordie for that last kick.

Ian Foster, New Zealand coach
