Fabio Fognini Announces Retirement at Age 38

According to Sky Sport, 38-year-old Italian tennis player Fabio Fognini has announced his retirement from professional tennis. His most notable achievement includes winning the Masters tournament in Monte Carlo in 2019.

Fognini also secured a victory at the 2015 Australian Open in doubles, which remains his only Grand Slam title. In addition, he won 17 ATP tournaments, nine of which were in singles.

In July 2019, he was ranked ninth in the world.

Fognini played his final professional match on June 30, where he lost in the first round of Wimbledon 2025 to the world number two, Spain's Carlos Alcaraz, in a five-set match with scores of 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, 6-2, 1-6. The match lasted 4 hours and 37 minutes.
