Fernandes is often labeled as one of the league’s most irritating figures due to his animated reactions, constant appeals to referees, and expressive style of play. However, the Portuguese midfielder insists that Silva edges him in that department.
Speaking in comments shared by Daily Mail reporter Nathan Salt on X, Fernandes joked:
“My image on the pitch makes me seem like someone who’s always complaining, but Bernardo Silva is more annoying than me! He’s politically correct and I’m not! My problem is talking with my arms.”
Despite the light-hearted jibe, the two players share a strong professional bond. Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva have been long-time teammates with the Portugal national team, having featured together on 68 occasions and combined for seven goal involvements.
At club level, both players are central figures for their respective sides. Fernandes has captained Manchester United since joining the club in 2020, going on to make 307 appearances, scoring 103 goals and providing 93 assists for the Red Devils.
Bernardo Silva, meanwhile, has been a key part of Manchester City’s dominance since arriving in 2017. The versatile midfielder has made 428 appearances for the Cityzens, registering 73 goals and 75 assists in the process.
