Real Madrid has reportedly declined club legend Modric’s request for a contract renewal, and now the Croatian midfielder’s final appearance in a Los Blancos shirt will be the upcoming match against Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.
"The time has come. The moment I never wanted to come, but that's football, and in life everything has a beginning and an end... On Saturday I will play my last game at the Santiago Bernabeu... "Playing for Real Madrid changed my life as a footballer and as a person. I feel proud to have been part of one of the most successful eras of the best club in history."
Luka Modric joined Real Madrid in 2012 during Jose Mourinho's tenure as manager. Since then, he has achieved incredible success, securing six Champions League titles, multiple La Liga championships, Copa del Rey victories, and earning the prestigious 2018 Ballon d'Or award.
Veteran Lucas Vazquez is also expected to depart following the Club World Cup, as he and the club have mutually decided not to extend his contract.
