The Portugal forward, Diogo Jota, and his brother, Andre Silva, tragically died in a car accident in Spain. It is reported that Jota was travelling from Portugal to Santander in northern Spain, where he was scheduled to take a ferry back to England. According to sources, their car, a Lamborghini, veered off the road due to a tyre blowout while attempting to overtake another vehicle and subsequently caught fire.

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) shared a video on social media that prominently displays a striking tattoo on Neves' left leg. The tattoo depicts an image of him embracing the late forward and includes the phrase: "You will never be forgotten. We are 23+1."

Ruben Neves played alongside Diogo Jota first at Porto, then at Wolves, and also for the Portugal national team. In memory of his close friend, Neves will wear the No. 21 jersey that Jota once wore for Portugal, continuing his legacy. Jota scored 14 goals in 49 games for his national side, Portugal.

Manager Roberto Martinez explained:
"The No21 jersey will go to Ruben Neves because, that way, that number will remain on the field and with all of us. "He had a very close relationship with Diogo and is the ideal person to represent him."

Jota's final game for his country took place on June 8, when he excelled in the National League final, helping his team secure the trophy once again by defeating Spain in the tournament's final match. Meanwhile, Portugal are preparing for World Cup qualifying games against Armenia and Hungary.
