Mohamed Salah has thrown Liverpool into the spotlight again after accusing the club of “throwing him under the bus” following his benching for the third consecutive Premier League match. The Reds drew 3–3 at Leeds on Saturday, and the Egyptian forward claims he has been unfairly made a scapegoat for Liverpool’s disappointing start to the season, raising serious doubts about his future at Anfield.

Salah Speaks Out After Bench Role

In a recent candid post-match interview, Salah expressed frustration at being left on the bench:

Salah
“I can’t believe … I’m sitting on the bench for 90 minutes. The third time on the bench, I think for the first time in my career. I’m very, very disappointed. I have done so much for this club down the years and especially last season. Now I’m sitting on the bench and I don’t know why. “It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling. I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame.”

Why Salah Was Dropped?

Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017, Salah has been one of the Premier League’s most prolific scorers, claiming the league’s top scorer award four times and being named both PFA and FWA Player of the Year last season. He has also helped Liverpool end a 30-year wait for the Premier League title in 2020 and win the Champions League in 2019.

However, under manager Arne Slot this season, Salah has scored just four league goals (including one penalty) and has been criticized for his defensive work. Liverpool’s poor start to the season, with only two wins in their last ten league games and eight losses or draws from 15 matches, has fueled criticism of the forward.

What happens next for Salah and Liverpool?

Following the Leeds draw, Salah hinted that Liverpool’s upcoming home game against Brighton could be his last for the club, saying he had asked his family to fly in to see the match.

Salah
“I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden, we don’t have any relationship,” Salah said. “I don’t know why, but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn’t want me in the club. “This club, I always support it. My kids will always support it. I love the club so much I will always do. I called my mum yesterday … I said: ‘Come to the Brighton game. I don’t know if I am going to play or not but I am going to enjoy it.’ In my head, I’m going to enjoy that game because I don’t know what is going to happen now. I will be in Anfield to say goodbye to the fans and go to the Africa Cup. I don’t know what is going to happen when I am there.”

Salah’s candid remarks have sent shockwaves through Liverpool, raising questions about his future and the dynamics within the squad. With the January transfer window approaching, speculation about a potential mid-season exit is intensifying.
