Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company Limited (AsiaSat) has appointed Dr. Ya-Hui Chiu as a advisor to the president and CEO of AsiaSat, following his retirement from the position of vice president of technical operations last month.

Chiu joined AsiaSat in 1989. He played a role in all technical matters involving the launch of AsiaSat 1, AsiaSat 2, AsiaSat 3S, AsiaSat 4 and AsiaSat 5, as well as maintaining and operating the satellite fleet and interfacing with customers.

He will continue to oversee the launch of AsiaSat 7, currently scheduled for the 4th quarter this year, AsiaSat said in a statement.
