Former APN Outdoor executive Philip Knox joins NBN Co as CFO

NBN Co, the company building Australia’s next-generation broadband network, has hired Philip Knox as its new chief financial officer.

Knox (pictured) has over thirty years of financial experience. Prior to joining NBN Co, Knox was recently CFO at APN Outdoor. He also has held CFO roles at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and Austar.

Knox is taking on the role following the promotion of former NBN Co CFO Stephen Rue to CEO. Rue replaced Bill Morrow as CEO in September and was also appointed executive director of NBN Co's board.

“Phil is an accomplished financial executive with extensive experience across the technology and media industries,” Rue said in a company statement.

Rue said nearly three in four Australians can now connect to the NBN access network, and Phil’s “outstanding track record of delivery and hands-on experience across key financial disciplines” will be critical in the final two years of the company’s broadband rollout.
