Security, application delivery and data protection solutions provider Barracuda Networks has joined the Ruckus Wireless Technology Ecosystem program.

As part of the arrangement, customers will be able to implement policy-based content security – including URL filtering and malware protection – via the Barracuda Web Filter in Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi network environments.

“BYOD continues to be a major challenge for organizations looking to provide their users a convenient and secure browsing experience while still keeping their networks safe,” said Stephen Pao, GM Security, Barracuda. “The integration of the Barracuda Web Filter with Ruckus Wireless network infrastructure helps alleviate that burden and allows IT administrators to easily set and enforce internet usage policy across multiple users."

Wireless connectivity on educational campuses is important for students, as well as the faculty and staff. The Barracuda Web Filter and Ruckus Wireless integration gives administrators flexibility in being able to easily manage user-specific policies across the campus.

“Our Barracuda integration addresses a key market need,” said Wendy Cartee, VP Marketing, Ruckus Wireless. “Many of our customers use the Barracuda Web Filter and want to apply consistent end user policies across their wired and wireless networks.

This is especially critical in key markets such as education, where wireless is becoming the primary access technology.”

The Ruckus Technology Ecosystem program helps ensure seamless integration and operation of select third-party applications – in this case, the Barracuda Web Filter – with Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi products and technology. Customers using Ruckus Wireless ZoneFlex access points with the Barracuda Web Filter will benefit from easy integration with directory services for reliable content filtering and granular user-based policy enforcement and reporting.

The combined solution allows IT administrators to pinpoint user identity, and expand user policies across the network for social media regulation, remote filtering and visibility into SSL-encrypted traffic.

The companies say they will host joint marketing events, both webinars and local trainings, to help educate customers and partners on the integrated solution offering.
