Brocade channel partners focused on IoT

The IoT and Big Data will be major trends within the next 24 months, at least for some resellers, a survey of Brocade channel partners shows.

The survey covered more than 1,200 global Brocade channel partners from its distributor and reseller communities.

Results show that 29% believe IoT will be a significant trend within the next year, although 40% believe it will be a significant trend only for some specialized resellers.

On the other hand, 67% believe that IoT will be a significant trend within five years, whereas 23% believe it will be a trend limited only for some specialized resellers.

Network security, followed by managing hybrid clouds and datacenter bandwidth requirements, are seen by Brocade channel partners as the three biggest customer challenges in 2016.

Among respondents, network security (27%) and managing security in hybrid cloud environments (21%) are anticipated as one of the biggest customer challenges.

Nearly 22% of channel partners believe solving needs around disaster recovery between datacenters is the third-most-anticipated challenge.

The top 3 anticipated drivers of end-customer spending for 2016 are hybrid cloud (24%), followed by network virtualization (24%) and increasing data volumes (14%).

The top 5 business priorities for channel partners in the next five years include continuing with their current growth strategy (44%); expanding into new vertical/industry markets (40%); upgrading and/or expanding their technical competencies (33%); expanding into new geographic regions (27%); and entering a new practice area, focused on a new vendor brand or solution type (21%).

Channel partners believe their customers are driven by the following top three reasons to adopt data center networking technologies based on open source standards — agility/flexibility/innovation drive the need for open source standards (49%); creating cross-vendor solutions is easier with open source standards (14%); and decreased vendor lock-in is driving interest in open source standards (10%).
