Dimension Data has been chosen by the Taiwan division of a large global insurance group to conduct an end-to-end overhaul of its IT backbone.

The project includes application and server virtualization, backup and disaster recovery solution, and centralized data protection measures.

Spanning data center, storage, security, network integration and performance optimization services, Dimension Data designs, deploys, manages and maintains the new infrastructure, while also provides training to the client's IT personnel.

The infrastructure now incorporates a host of best-in-class solutions, including a VMware server virtualization solution and an application virtualization platform from Citrix. Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) and servers seamlessly converge computing, networking, management, virtualization, and storage access into a single integrated architecture.

The upgrade was rounded out by EMC's Data Domain and NetWorker solutions, which provide backup and disaster recovery capabilities respectively, the company said.
