Ericsson has won a $1.3 billion network expansion contract with Bharti Airtel, bringing its tally to over $3 billion in deals in Asia this week.

Ericsson said it will expand and upgrade Bharti's network in 15 of India's 22 telecom circles.

It will supply 2G/2.5G/EDGE base stations, microwave and intelligent networking gear to Bharti, India’s biggest mobile operator. It will also ensure that Bharti's core and transport network is 3G-ready.

Earlier this week, the wireless vendor announced $1.8 billion in frame contracts for China Mobile and China Unicom.

The contract announcements follow a warning from analysts last week that Ericsson’s earnings would fall as Chinese operators cut their network spending this year.
