Ericsson and Polycom have agreed to jointly launch an end-to-end cloud-based solution which will enable telcos to deliver interoperable HD Video-as-a-Service (VaaS) and unified communication services to enterprises.

The cloud-based solution incorporates Ericsson’s video-enabled IMS offering and Polycom RealPresence video and voice endpoints. It will also include Ericsson’s solution for unified communication, the Ericsson Business Communication Suite

With the new cloud-based solution, operators can enter or expand their operations with new VaaS offerings across devices.

The solution will be jointly taken to market globally, with Ericsson serving as prime system integrator for all of the infrastructure components.

Customer trials of the joint solution should commence in mid-2012, with general availability expected by year-end, the companies noted.
