Facebook has paid $20 million in cash and 1.25 million shares - combined worth up to $65 million - to settle a lawsuit claiming founder Mark Zuckerberg stole the idea for the site from three of his former classmates.

Pioneer will cut 10,000 jobs - 27% of its total workforce - and abandon the television market, as it forecast a $1.4 billion loss for the year ending in March, reported the Financial Times.

Another 14 companies - including Qualcomm, MySpace, SanDisk and HP - have joined the Symbian Foundation, taking the tally of official supporters to 78.

Juniper Networks and Nokia Siemens will collaborate on an interoperable carrier Ethernet solution.

Synchronica has launched a multi-protocol mobile gateway that it says can extend mobile and email data synchronization to virtually any mobile phone.

The 50/50 JV between STMicroelectronics and Ericsson will be known as ST-Ericsson. The new company was formed from STMicroelectronics' semiconductor division and Ericsson's mobile platform group.
