NTT DoCoMo has cancelled the launch of Nokia's E71 handset, due to Nokia's withdrawal from the Japanese market.

Japanese VNO IIJ (Internet Initiative Japan) has launched 3G/HSDPA services in partnership with subsidiary hi-ho. IIJ entered the Japanese mobile data market in January.

Clearwire, having recently solidified a merger with Sprint's Xohm business, has announced the converged company will operate under a new brand - "Clear".

Malaysian operator Packet One has expanded its Wimax network, launching services in the Johor region.

Indian operator Quipo Telecom is expected to finalise a deal for a 49% stake of Tata Teleservices' tower business - GTL Infrastructure - in the next two weeks, the Business Standard reports.
