YouTube is testing video-fingerprinting technology to guard copyrights of material posted at its web site. YouTube has been plagued with complaints and lawsuits by film and video owners that accuse it of not filtering copyright-protected works.

Sony Ericsson rolls out two new music phones under the Walkman brand and two new camera phones in the German market. The firm said the W960 Walkman is aimed at the high-end market and will compete with Apple's iPhone.

Yahoo Japan signs a partnerships deal with Apple's iTunes music store to allow iPod users to download songs. The firm said owners of iPod can now search for musicians, tracks and albums on the Yahoo site, which also contains news and reviews, and download music from iTunes.
