Zilog, tvCompass launch home control solution
Zilog and tvCompass will launch in the second quarter of 2009 a solution that enables remote control capability on the Apple iPhone and other popular mobile smart phones. The joint technology solution features tvCompass' network-connected Interactive Program Guide and wireless service as well as Zilog's Crimzon Connects technology that provides customized control of home audio/video products.
Mail on Ovi goes 'Live' worldwide
Mail on Ovi, the free email account from Nokia, is now 'live' and can be set up directly on Nokia Series 40 phones without requiring a PC to get started. During the Beta period, consumers will be able to choose from 12 languages based on the settings of their device, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Hindi, Bengali, Tagalog, Bahasa Indonesia and Bahasa Malaysia.
Momail taps Flickr for photo sharing
Momail has integrated Flickr into its popular mobile email service to enhance photo sharing and searching using the mobile phone. Just by simply sending an email message, the end-user can upload photos from their camera phone, search and download public and private photos, and receive information on recent updates from friends and family.
Sling Media's tests new app for BlackBerry
Sling Media's SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry smartphones can be downloaded for free download as part of a public beta. The application will be available to Slingbox customers in the US, Canada and the UK at launch.
Animax Mobile reaches Malaysia, Singapore audiences
Astro and StarHub launched the subscription-based Animax Mobile 3G video streaming service in Malaysia and Singapore last November and December, respectively. Contents include full-length anime episodes in two-hour loops (refreshed weekly) and five- to seven-minute clips from The Count of Monte Cristo, Blood+, R.O.D. the TV, and Last Exile.
