Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holding Limited (HTHKH) has appointed Kenny Koo Sing-fai (pictured) as executive director and CEO, effective August 1.

He replaces Cliff Woo Chiu-man, who has been re-designated as its co-deputy chairman and non-executive director, according to a company statement.

Woo has also taken up the role of president director of Hutchison 3 Indonesia, a mobile subsidiary of Li Ka-shing’s CK Hutchison Holdings - the merged entity of Hutchison Whampoa Limited (HWL) and Cheung Kong Group.

Koo has over 23 years of experience in the telecoms industry. He joined HWL in 2006 and has held senior positions within the group’s telecom operations for the markets in Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam and Indonesia since then. He re-joined HTHKH in 2017 as a director of roaming and services development and was promoted to chief commercial officer in January, 2018.

Koo has been spearheading pioneering projects dealing with strategic partners including Apple, Facebook, Whatsapp, Microsoft and Google, the Hong Kong telco said.
