Singapore's M1 has launched VoLTE over its LTE-Advanced network at no extra charge for 4G customers.

The operator has upgraded its 300Mbps LTE-A network to support VoLTE, branded as 4G Voice.

M1's VoLTE service is designed to work across its 3G and 4G networks to ensure uninterrupted conversations.

“Following a period of extensive testing, we are pleased to make available 4G Voice calls to our customers. We are sure our customers will appreciate the enhanced voice call quality and the ease of use of the feature,” M1 COO Patrick Scodeller commented.

He said the company is working with handset makers to ensure future phones ship with the VoLTE feature enabled. Existing devices may require a software upgrade to support the service.

M1 launched its 300Mbps LTE-A network late last year, after upgrading the network from 150Mbps LTE-A. The company first went live with 75Mbps LTE services in 2012.
