Malaysia's Maxis has introduced a range of Islamic content and services in conjunction with its Salam Ikhlas 2012 campaign.

Customers can access more than 30 Islamic products and services across all devices via SMS, MMS, apps, video, audio, ebooks, iPads, Android devices and PCs, the company said.

Services include free imsak and 'buka puasa' times, where customers are provided with free alerts yearly allowing them to stay informed of the exact times during the holy month of Ramadan.

Another service is mZakat, a channel for Maxis customers in Selangor, Sabah, Kedah, Perlis, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan and Melaka, who can fulfill their religious obligation during the month of Ramadan by contributing their zakat payment via SMS, Maxis said in a statement.

Android and Blackberry users can sign up for a free personal cloud account with 5GB of storage space to save and back up all their videos and pictures especially during the upcoming festive season, the company added.

As for March, Maxis had 13.8 mobile customers. The operator has recently signed an agreement with Redtone International to share 4G infrastructure and spectrum.
