NEC signed a global framework contract with Norway’s Telenor, for the supply of a large capacity compact microwave communications system.

The deal covers a long-haul, large capacity, microwave system and related services such as installation and commissioning for Telenor group’s 11 affiliates, which includes operators such as Pannon GSM Telecommunications of Hungary, and Grameenphone of Bangladesh.

An NEC statement claims the deal strengthens its position as the primary microwave communication system supplier for the Telenor Group, the firm said. The iPASOLINK series is the next generation of PASOLINK products.

Since the launch of PASOLINK in the early 1980s, mobile communications have exceptionally expanded and the system has been widely adopted as a microwave communications tool for mobile backhaul, with shipments of approximately two million units throughout 147 countries.
