In Vietnam, the Global Data Services Joint Stock Company (GDS) has began to offer domestic and international network services in the country.
GDS is a joint venture between NTT Communications (NTT Com) and Vietnam Posts & Telecommunications (VNPT). NTT Com was the first foreign-capital enterprise to obtain a telecom network license from the Ministry of Information and Communication english.mic.gov.vn.
Together with sales subsidiary, NTT Communications (Vietnam), the NTT Com group now offers information & communication technology (ICT) services for multinational companies in Vietnam.
New services launched
GDS on 13 December launched the following services: 1) Domestic data network service (multicarrier); 2) Direct connection to domestic Internet exchanges (IX); 3 Internet access; and 4) Video conferencing and teleconferencing.
By combining these new network services (such as local carrier selection) with existing services including data center, cloud computing (IaaS, mail and web hosting) and systemintegration, GDS service portfolio now ranges from operation, maintenance and support, to various application procedures.
Established in 2008, GDS operates the Thăng Long Data Center in Vietnam, a Tier III data center with ISO 27001-certified information security management. The company's ICT enterprise services supports the delivery of solutions like online gaming, e-commerce, SNS and recruiting-service providers, as well as insurance and securities firms and banks that require data center services to manage their websites, data backup and business continuity planning.
