OSS firm rebrands as Accanto after merger

OSS consulting and professional services LTE Innovations has rebranded as Accanto Systems following its acquisition of Sunrise Telecom's OSS division.

The new company will focus on next-generation customer service assurance, CEO Michele Campriani said.

Campriani, who previously led Sunrise's Protocol Products Group, told telecomasia.net that with private-equity funding LTE acquired PPG because it sees customer service assurance as a strong growth area, which can help operators reduce churn and cut opex.

"The customer experience is at its infancy for telcos and will grow rapidly. LTE saw a gap in the market in providing a view of what the customer is experiencing beyond just the health of the infrastructure," Campriani said.

He claims the company's technology allows service providers to proactively monitor customer experience metrics through real-time correlation and aggregation intelligence. The company uses Oracle's business intelligence solution to mine data and give operators real-time insight into the problems their customer face.

"When customers face problems, for example with data roaming, operators lose money and most times they are blind to this," he noted.

The merged company has almost 100 employees and has an installed based of 180 customers. PPG's revenue grew 25% last year.

Campriani insists he isn't yet feeling pressure from the downturn since many service providers are investing in tools that will enable them to more accurately monitor their networks and not have to "throw hardware at a problem every time they face a traffic issue."

Accanto Systems is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, with operations in Italy, US and China.
