PCCW Global enters partnership with Hengqin New District

Hong Kong's PCCW Global has entered signed an agreement with the Administration Committee of Hengqin New District aimed at capturing business opportunities in the Greater Bay Area.

The Hengqin New District is located less than an hour from Hong Kong via the newly opened Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge, and offers significant trade and development potential.

Under the collaboration agreement, PCCW Global and the Administration Committee will engage in cooperation on areas including the internet of things (IoT), smart city development and artificial intelligence.

The company has established a wholly-owned subsidiary in Hengqin New District that will in part be focused on building and operating an IoT smart city R&D platform.

Other planned initiatives at the new subsidiary include the development of an international IoT operation platform, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area AI training and demonstration centers, and operation centers.

PCCW Global is the international operating division of Hong Kong operator HKT, with a network spanning 3,000 cities across 150 countries worldwide.

The company is headquartered in Hong Kong and has regional centers in Australia, Belgium, China, France, Greece, Japan, Korea, Singapore, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, the UK and the USA.
