The Philippines' PLDT has stepped up competition in the fixed-line market with the launch of the nation's first 1Gbps home fiber service.

The company's PLDT HOME Fibr division will offer the plan over its extensive FTTH network, which currently spans 100,000km nationwide.

In addition, the company has launched symmetrical fiber services for users seeking equal download and upload speeds.

Earlier this year PLDT HOME Fibr upgraded the minimum speed of its data plans from 8Mbps to 20Mbps, and increased the speeds of all its plans up to the 100Mbps plan, which was boosted to 200Mbps.

“These massive speed boosts and the new symmetrical speeds combined with our unparalleled offers let our subscribers experience the ultimate digital lifestyle at the comforts of their home,” PLDT HOME marketing director Gary Dujali said.
