PocketGear buys Handango, puts up giant app store

PocketGear has acquired of Handango, forming the world's largest cross platform, open application store and content marketplace.

Together, the two previously largest independent app stores, account for $400 million in revenues from customers in more than 175 countries.

The purchase expands PocketGear's mobile app marketplace to more than 32,000 developers with over 40 storefront and distribution partners.

Upon closing, Jud Bowman will remain as president and CEO of PocketGear and Alex Bloom, current CEO of Handango, will become Chief Operating Officer of PocketGear.
