(Bangkok Post via NewsEdge) The president of Thailand's TOT said he will sue the company's board of directors for what he considered an unfair order to deprive him of operational responsibility.
'They moved me from my core job to oversee academic affairs "&brkbar; which was unfair and ill-intentioned,' Somkuan Bruminhent said.
The TOT board, chaired by Gen Saprang Kalayanamitr, on May 25 shifted Somkhuan to oversee academic affairs, essentially an inactive post, and appointed director Vuthiphong Priebjrivat to act as president.
Somkuan said he would ask the Administrative Court to rule speedily on his case so that he could resume his duties as president, as his term expires at the end of this year.
In addition, he said he would file a civil suit against some board directors for defaming him on several occasions.
He said he had to resort to the judicial process after two attempts to explain and defend himself against allegations of impropriety related to Thai Mobile, TOT's struggling cellular service.
Vasukree Klapairee, the chief executive of Thai Mobile, was transferred to the Information and Communications Technology Ministry on the same day that Somkhuan was sidelined.
'The board never allowed me a chance to respond to the allegations, while Gen Saprang said he would order an investigation of the deals so that I could return to the job again,' Somkhuan said.
But he said one month had elapsed since the promise to investigate and there had been no progress.
