SingTel to launch 10Gbps residential broadband

SingTel has revealed plans to launch a 10Gbps residential fiber broadband service in Singapore later this month.

The operator will use its 10GPON infrastructure to offer the service, which which will be the fastest home broadband service in Singapore. It will also feature four 1Gbps ports.

The launch follows a trial of the service to a pilot group of customers conducted last year.

According to Goh Seow Eng, managing director of home consumer Singapore for SingTel, the service is being pitched at large households or home offices with significant bandwidth needs.

“We recognize that residential customers are using greater bandwidth and requiring faster speeds for their online activities. Our 10Gbps Fiber Home Bundle will offer households the fastest fiber broadband experience in Singapore,” he said.

SingTel will offer the service as a bundle priced at S$189 ($134) per month, which will include a 10G optical network router and wireless dual-band AC router.

As a promotion, the company will also temporarily offer two of its Wi-Fi Mesh devices, which use client steering technologies to ensure consistent bandwidth at high speeds, for no extra cost.
