NEC and Netcracker Technology participated in a trial with NTT to contribute to NTT’s NetroSphere concept.

NTT's NetroSphere concept is designed to transform carrier networks from static, single-service networks powered by purpose-built hardware to a dynamic, flexible assembly of smaller, modular components.

This enables telecoms service providers to deliver a diverse range of services to a wide variety of end users, on demand and at low cost.

According to the companies, the trial incorporated numerous components, including a modular-based virtualized network, virtualized servers, orchestrators and controllers. As part of this trial, NEC and Netcracker provided their NFV Orchestrator.

Atsuo Kawamura, SVP at NEC said: “We are excited to work with NTT in showcasing how the market's shift into the virtualized and open world is feasible when management and orchestration capabilities are front and center.”

“With the appropriate solutions in place, service providers can become more flexible, making it easier to meet the rapidly changing requirements of their customers and the industry,” Kawamura said.
