Telecom Asia opens voting for 5th Readers' Choice Awards

Hong Kong, October 8, 2012 - The editors of Telecom Asia have finalized the shortlist of nominees for fifth Readers’ Choice Awards and have opened voting to its online subscriber base of service providers across Asia.

A total of 48 technology suppliers were nominated in 23 categories. Leading the list of nominees this year with nominations in at least five categories were Alcatel-Lucent, Amdocs, Cisco Systems, Ericsson, HP, Huawei Technologies, Nokia Siemens Networks and ZTE.

Voting for Asia’s best technology providers will close on October 22.

The winners will be announced at the Readers' Choice Award ceremony on November 29 in Kula Lumpur. Telecom Asia organizes the awards each year to recognize the technology innovations and accomplishments of the top telecom vendors operating in Asia Pacific.
Nominations were open to analysts, consultants and telco executives in September. More than 110 telecom insiders submitted more than 500 nominations. Telecom Asia’s editorial team narrowed down the list of nominations in each of the categories after consulting with a panel of analysts.

Nomination Criteria:

  • Overall quality of innovation and contribution to technology advancement (50%)
  • Market acceptance - market share growth, market share and new customer acquisition (15%)
  • Revenue growth and contribution to overall industry leadership (20%)
  • Vision and industry leadership (15%)
  • Based on performance in 12 months prior to September 1, 2012 - nominated products/services should have been available by June 30, 2012
