BlackBerry taps Alicia Keys as global creative director

Famous singer/songwriter/producer Alicia Keys has joined BlackBerry as its new global creative director.

In her new role, Keys will work closely with app developers, content creators, retailers, carriers and the entertainment community to further shape the new BlackBerry 10 platform.

The appointment was announced the same day as BlackBerry launched its BlackBerry 10 smartphone and changed the company name from RIM to BlackBerry.

Telstra Application Ventures Group MD Deena Shiff steps down

Telstra announced Thursday that its Application Ventures Group managing director Deena Shiff will step down as a Telstra executive with immediate effect.

Shiff’s responsibilities for AVG activities will continue to be governed through the AVG board led by Kate McKenzie, group MD for Telstra Innovation Products and Marketing and Andy Penn, CFO.

Shiff will remain available to support Telstra’s AVG investments as an adviser to AVG or director on the boards of its investment companies.

Matthew Koertge, MD AVG Australia and Mark Sherman, MD AVG US, will jointly lead the AVG team, and will join the AVG board to succeed Shiff.
