Telkomtelstra names Erik Meijer president director

Telkomtelstra, the Jakarta-based joint venture between Telstra and Telkom Indonesia, has appointed Erik Meijer as president director, effective on December 1.

Meijer will replace Phill Sporton who has led Telkomtelstra since its inception and will be returning to Australia to take up a position with Telstra.

Telkomtelstra said Meijer has spent the past 22 years working in Indonesia and has held various senior management positions within the Indonesian ICT industry.

David Burns, group managing director at Telstra Global Services said Meijer’s appointment comes after an extensive search and the company is “delighted to have secured a candidate of Erik’s caliber to capitalize on the significant progress we have made since telkomtelstra was established.”

“We want to thank Phill Sporton for the outstanding work he has done, taking telkomtelstra from a start-up to a growth business. Under Phill’s leadership, we have built a strong local team who are delivering a range of managed solutions in Indonesia and we now welcome him back to Telstra,” Burns added.

Telstra and Telkom Indonesia announced their intention to form TelkomTelstra in early 2014 with plans to provide network applications and services (NAS) in the Indonesian market and the Asia-Pacific region.

Telkomtelstra began its operations in May with the launch of a suite of NAS for domestic enterprises and multinational corporations operating throughout Indonesia and recently opened a customer experience center in Jakarta to introduce to potential customers its integrated ICT system.
