Telekom Malaysia has postponed its proposed e-billing as the default billing for its broadband Streamyx and UniFi customers from January to July 2016.

The e-bill option, which allows bills to be notified faster, is encouraged for all customers to adopt, TM said in a statement Wednesday.

With e-Bill, all broadband customers will receive a PDF copy of their monthly bill via email within four days, and an SMS alert within seven days after the respective bill date.

On the rescheduling, Imri Mokhtar, TM EVP for consumer and SME, said: “At TM, customers’ feedback is extremely important to us and we have, and will continue to take all feedback received thus far, and going forward into consideration.

“We are currently refining the implementation process towards the introduction of e-Bill in July 2016. Until then, broadband customers will continue to receive their printed bill free of charge.”

To date, over 700,000 out of more than 4.4 million TM residential customer base are already on e-Bill statements.

Imri said the introduction of the e-Bill as the default billing for broadband customers in July 2016 was in line with the industry’s move towards a more digital lifestyle and as a step towards a greener and eco-friendly future.

“We believe this move towards e-Bill provides a more convenient, secure and environmentally friendly way of delivering the monthly bill statement to our broadband customers,” he added.

Customers subscribing only to its telephone service, without broadband, will continue to receive the printed bill for free.
