PT Telkom subsidiary Telin Singapore is making progress with its planned new data center and telecommunications hub, after securing the land required.
The company has been awarded the first plot of land at Singapore's Data Centre Park. Construction of the Telin facility is now expected to commence in early 2015.
When services come online in or around the fourth quarter of 2016, the facility will provide high-speed low-latency connectivity between Indonesia and Singapore using Telkom's wholly-owned subsea cable systems.
The data center will be designed to be technologically sustainable and energy efficient, and to minimize development and maintenance costs. It will be built to the Uptime Institute's Tier-III or IV specifications.
“Telin Singapore Data Centre and Telecommunication Hub is an important and strategic investment,” Telin CEO Septika N Widyasrini said.
“This state-of-the-art data center and telecommunication hub investment will help to propel Telkom Group to embrace its future growth strategy through borderless communication and visualization of services.”
Data Centre Park is a joint initiative of IDA Singapore, the Singapore Economic Development Board and Jurong Town Corporation. It forms part of Singapore's efforts to attract multinationals, enterprises and Internet and media companies to host their content and services there.
