Legendary basketball player Michael Jordan, a Hall of Famer and six-time National Basketball Association (NBA) champion, has allocated $10 million to a medical institution in his hometown of Wilmington.
In recognition of this generous gesture, the Neuroscience Institute at the medical center will be renamed and dedicated in honor of Deloris Jordan, the famous athlete's mother.

My mother taught me the importance of compassion and community, and I can't think of a better way to honor her than by helping to ensure those in need can obtain the most advanced neurological care available.
Jordan won gold twice at the Olympic Games (in 1984 and 1992) and was a six-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls team.
