
On September 6, a formal induction ceremony took place in Springfield, Massachusetts, adding new names to the Basketball Hall of Fame. Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard were among those inducted.
Anthony, who played for the New York Knicks, spent 19 seasons in the league and is a three-time Olympic champion. Howard, who played for the Orlando Magic, was three times named Defensive Player of the Year and won an NBA championship in 2020 with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Also inducted were Sue Bird, Maya Moore, Sylvia Fowles, referee Dan Crawford, coach Billy Donovan, Miami owner Micky Arison, and the 2008 U.S. men’s Olympic basketball team.
