Wembanyama in Tears After NBA Cup Final Defeat, Mourning Grandmother

French center for the San Antonio Spurs, Victor Wembanyama, could not hide his emotions at the press conference following the NBA Cup final against the New York Knicks (113:124).

As later reported by insider Tim Reynolds, the reason was the passing of Wembanyama's grandmother.

Victor Wembanyama's grandmother died earlier today. He played the Cup final and was understandably emotional afterward.

The most productive player for San Antonio was American point guard Dylan Harper, who recorded 21 points and 7 rebounds.

For New York, this triumph marked their first-ever NBA Cup victory. Previously, the trophy had only been won by two teams: the Los Angeles Lakers and the Milwaukee Bucks.
