Three NCAA Basketball Players Banned for Betting Against Their Teams

Fresno State players Mykell Robinson and Steven Vasquez, along with San Jose State forward Jalen Weaver, have received lifetime bans for betting on their own games and intentionally lowering their statistics, Courtside Buzz reports.

All three are barred from college basketball and have been expelled from their universities.

An investigation found that in January 2025 Robinson and Vasquez agreed that one of them would underperform key metrics. Through an intermediary, they placed a $2,200 bet, won $15,950, and split the proceeds. The scheme continued, and Weaver joined in.

Robinson and Vasquez reportedly declined to cooperate with the investigation.
