WBC light heavyweight champion David Benavidez has expressed a controversial belief that Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, the undisputed world champion in the super middleweight division, is using banned substances.
David Benavidez for ClockernLoaded
If Canelo was 100 percent confident in himself, I don’t know why he wouldn’t fight me. Especially since seeing that everybody on his team is on steroids, including him – he never got off the steroids. Of course [he is on steroids]. How do five people out of your camp test positive for steroids? All those f*****g dudes in that camp are dirty.
Alvarez is set to face Terence Crawford on September 13.
The last time Saul Alvarez stepped into the ring was on May 4 in Riyadh, where he secured a unanimous decision victory over William Scull to capture the title of undisputed champion. His record stands at 63 wins (39 by knockout), two losses, and two draws.
Terence Crawford last fought in August 2024, winning a unanimous decision against Israil Madrimov. He remains undefeated with 41 victories (31 by knockout) and no defeats.
