Undefeated American Terence Crawford lost his WBA title in the light middleweight division just ten days after becoming the undisputed world champion at super middleweight by defeating Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
The title passed to Abas Baraou of Germany, who previously held the interim version of the belt and is now recognized as the full champion of the division. The WBA will soon announce the official challenger, with top candidates including Conor Benn and Josh Kelly.
Crawford gave up the title after moving up in weight to face Canelo, and he is currently on pause following his third unification.
Crawford last fought Alvarez on September 14 in Las Vegas, winning by unanimous decision to become the undisputed super middleweight champion. His record stands at 42 wins (31 by KO) and no losses.
