Dimitri Kirilov, the Russian coach who works with WBA, IBF, and WBO light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol, criticized Saul Alvarez's performance against William Scull in an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net. He also predicted a difficult fight for the Mexican boxer against Terence Crawford.
Dimitri Kirilov exclusively for Telecom Asia Sport
I didn't see anything new. Alvarez exploded occasionally with one or two punches, without combos. And they weren’t accurate. That’s always been his style. As he ages, he’s becoming less enthusiastic. He’s not working in combinations. Just one or two punches, and those weren't even accurate. But Scull could have only won with a knockout; Alvarez is still a superstar. Terence Crawford will easily crush Alvarez, if he keeps working the way he did today.
Recall that on May 4, Saul Alvarez won a unanimous decision (115-113, 116-112, 119-109) against William Scull, and had a stare-down with Terence Crawford after the match.
