Terence Crawford’s sparring partner Steven Nelson spoke about the American’s upcoming fight with Mexican Saul “Canelo” Álvarez, scheduled for September 14 in Las Vegas, USA.
Steven Nelson for The Ring
People think he’s gonna get in there and just run the whole fight. [They] think he’s gonna move around, box and move around, move, move around. Like dude, I’m just looking forward to seeing what their excuses are, seeing what they say. Every time Bud steps up and fights new guys, since he was at, shoot, 135, 140, it’s always, ‘Oh, I don’t know how he’s gonna be able to take this pressure. This guy’s bigger.’ It’s always that. But since I’ve known Bud, he’s always got in there with bigger guys and made statements and ended up being the bigger man.
Álvarez last fought William Scull in May this year, winning by unanimous decision. His record stands at 63 wins (39 by KO), two losses and two draws.
Crawford’s most recent fight was against Israil Madrimov in August 2024, where Terence won by unanimous decision. His record is 41 wins (31 by KO) and no losses.
