Former IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois spoke about his defeat to Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk at the London boxing event.
"I’ve come up against one of the best in the world, and a southpaw on top of that. Yeah, I could’ve done better but this is how it goes sometimes. And I don’t feel deflated or defeated in myself, I just need to learn and learn about myself and improve myself," Dubois said in an interview with talkSPORTS.
I’m willing to give it everything I’ve got, everything I’ve got left now at this stage of my career and become two-time heavyweight champion of the world. That’s my goal. I’m willing to do anything to get to that.
On July 20 Usyk knocked out Dubois in the fifth round, becoming unified heavyweight champion for the second time. The pair’s first meeting in August 2023 ended with Usyk stopping Dubois in the ninth round. Usyk’s record stands at 24 wins (15 by knockout) and no losses. Dubois has 22 wins (21 by knockout) and three defeats.
