Former WBO junior middleweight champion Jaime Munguia has failed a doping test following the analysis of an A sample taken after his rematch with Bruno Surace.
According to VADA, Munguia's analysis showed increased levels of testosterone metabolites of exogenous origin. Jaime has the right to request an opening and testing of the B sample within ten days. If it also tests positive for banned substances, he will face disqualification and the result of the fight against Surace will be canceled.
The rematch between Munguia and Surace took place in May this year in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Jaime won that fight by unanimous decision.
The first fight between Munguia and Surace, which took place in December 2024, ended with Jaime losing by knockout in the sixth round. He has 45 wins (35 by knockout) and two defeats on his professional boxing account.
