World champion in four weight classes, Japanese boxer Kosei Tanaka announced the end of his professional career at the age of 29 due to health problems.

Kosei Tanaka on his social media
I'm retiring as a professional boxer. 11 years of professional life. The reason is all about my repeated eye injuries. Due to the effects of hernia operations on my neck and many, many operations on my eyes alone in the four years from 2021, my eyes have become brittle and I can no longer spar, let alone compete.

Tanaka last fought against Phumelele Cafu in October 2024. In that fight, which went the full distance, Kosei was defeated by a split decision. He has 20 wins (11 by knockout) and two losses.

Tanaka made his professional debut in November 2013. Then he faced the representative of Indonesia Oscar Raknafa. This fight lasted the whole distance and ended in favor of Kosei by unanimous decision.
