Hearn to Hold First Boxing Night in Ghana on December 20

Promoter company Matchroom Boxing continues its international expansion and will enter the West African market for the first time on December 20 – the debut boxing event under the Matchroom brand will take place in Accra, Ghana.

According to Matchroom Boxing’s head Eddie Hearn, this event is a preparatory stage for a possible return of Anthony Joshua to the ring in February.

Eddie Hearn for The Ring
We're doing a show in Ghana on December 20th. Obviously this will not be an AJ show but it’s still going to be a good show. The idea is that this is probably a precursor for an AJ show out there but it’s not part of our initial deal. We can just get the lay of the land with this one.

Joshua last fought in September 2024 against Daniel Dubois, losing by a fifth-round knockout. His record stands at 28 wins (25 by knockout) and four losses.
