The International Boxing Association (IBA) made an official statement saying that athletes will now be allowed to enter the ring with a beard.
"A boxer may wear a beard and mustache, but it must not cover the neck and must not be longer than 10 cm," the association said in a statement.
Previously, boxers were required to go into fights only with a smooth shave. Otherwise, athletes were not allowed to compete.
The IBA is a commercial organization which organizes professional boxing matches and awards world championship awards.
