IBF junior middleweight world champion Bakhram Murtazaliev told Telecomasia.net in an exclusive interview how his fight with Erickson Lubin came about.
Bakhram Murtazaliev exclusively for Telecom Asia Sport
It didn't work out with Turki Alalshikh because he wanted my fights with other champions. They refused. A fight against a mandatory challenger was not interesting enough for him. So I will fight on the PBC channel on Amazon Prime. Turki will have other fights. It turned out to be late because they fed me promises for a long time — promising Virgil Ortiz, Sebastian Fundora, Errol Spence, Keith Thurman and Jermell Charlo. It didn’t work out with any of them. I'll have to take what’s available. The main thing is that Lubin doesn't change his mind. Otherwise it will be really funny. Six or seven boxers called me out, and when I said 'yes' they backed out.
Murtazaliev last fought Tim Tszyu in October 2024, winning by technical knockout in the third round. His record stands at 23 wins (17 by knockout) and no losses.
Lubin last entered the ring against Ardreal Holmes Jr in May of this year. That fight ended in Lubin's favor by technical knockout in the 11th round. He has 27 wins (19 by knockout) and two losses.
