Mauricio Lara Fails Weigh-in and Loses His WBA Belt

WBA super featherweight champion Mauricio Lara of Mexico failed to meet his weight class limit before the rematch with Leigh Wood and lost his belt.

Wood weighed 57.11 kg, Lara weighed 58.88 kg, exceeding the limit by 1.7 kg.

We would like to remind you that the fight between Lara and Wood will take place on May 27, in Manchester. In case of Lara's victory or draw, the WBA featherweight title remains vacant.

The first meeting between Lara and Wood took place in February, 2023, in Nottingham, England, and ended with the victory of Mauricio by TKO in the seventh round.
