Mayweather: There Are Only Three Stars In Boxing Now - Canelo, Garcia And Davis

Former world champion in five weight categories Floyd Mayweather Jr. revealed which of the current professional boxers he considers superstars.

Mayweather told Inside Fighting:

There are some heavy hitters in the game right now but there’s only really three. Canelo [Alvarez], Ryan [Garcia] and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. A lot of time people think well I got a belt. I’m a star. I got two belts. In today’s time, they think belts and a few million dollars makes you a star. But being articulate makes you a star. Knowing when to speak and when not to speak. Everything plays a role in making you a household name, and I know this. That’s why they still talking about me. It’s been almost 30 years, and the Mayweather name is always being brought up.

Garcia last stepped into the ring against Oscar Duarte on December 3 in Houston, USA. In that confrontation, Ryan won by knockout in the eighth round. He has 24 wins (20 by knockout) and one loss.

Davis last entered the ring as part of a boxing evening held in April this year in Las Vegas (USA). At that time, Abdul Wahid [Gervonta's Muslim name] was opposed by Ryan Garcia. In this fight, Davis won by knockout in the seventh round. He has 29 wins (27 by knockout) and no losses.

In his last fight in October 2023, Alvarez defeated Jermell Charlo by unanimous decision and defended his WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO and The Ring middleweight titles. In May 2023, Canelo defeated John Ryder by unanimous decision of the judges. The 33-year-old Alvarez has 60 wins (39 by knockout), two draws and two losses.
